This is an option that you can change using the RamFAST utility. What it is doing is giving your scsi devices a chance to spin up. u 1: Boot Scan delay....manual shows no jumpers here in default configuration u 2: first (left) jumper is 'Enable ICP (Yes/No)', middle 6 not used, last (right) is 'multiple

Need advice on setting up a dual boot vista / xp?
Are they on the same computer (as in dual boot). I'm not entirely sure that this is due to the XP kernel, it may have more to do with BIOS, UMA and certain settings for onboard/integrated or legacy devices. Newer computers have more of these integrated devices so there may be no available pages in the UMA for EMS.

Both of these toys are running GNU/Linux and one is dual boot. Mandriva on the big box and Knoppix on the laptop. Whether or not the RH can recognise enough of the newer machine will depend on how close the new machine is hardware-wise to the old machine. Things like graphic chip sets and other chips that interface

Should I use 64 bit Windows XP?
I would like to force the boot menu to show every boot. I used BCDEDIT to set the timeout to 30 seconds, and verified the setting took, but I still do not get the boot menu. Is there a way I can force the boot menu to show or am I going to have to install a second OS just to make Vista think I have a dual-boot PC?

I might have another option. Is it possible to dual boot Vista 32bit and Vista 64bit? If installed on their own separate hard disks (I have 2), I'm almost sure it is possible, but I would like confirmation. Before installing (or trying to install) Vista 64bit, I would first like to make sure it would not be a big

Vista, is the first OS by MS, that I did not run out and get when it was released ( being the geek that I am ). The more I kept reading about it, So, I ordered the full retail version of 64 bit Vista Ultimate, along with a new hard drive to put it on, in a dual boot environment with my main XP Pro install.

Converting or formatting NTFS to FAT32
my pc requirements are perhaps a little unusual, though not impossible: all the software i'm used to, and which does pretty well exactly what i want of it, it's not exactly an off-the-shelf option... Episode 3 of Everybody (at Microsoft) hates Chris
Unfortunately it's a kernel constant, not a tunable. The only way to change it is via "options MSGBUF_SIZE=..." in your kernel config file, and rebuild the kernel. I'd be curious to know if anyone's still hedging their bets by making their machine dual-boot i386/amd64 --- and how they configure it.

LG 0.8N with dual boot (Linux and WIN)
It has been awhile since I have done this so there may be other options I'm not aware of. Also you won't be able to "just delete" the 2nd OS, you'll need to use the dual-boot configuration utility to remove it from the equation before you can 'get rid of it'. And, you'll still have the dual-boot partition there
